Lillian Burk Meeser (1864-1942)

Born in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, Lillian Meeser studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Art Students League in New York, and the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts. Lillian Meeser was an early member of the Cape Cod art community and a member of The Eight Philadelphia Women, a group that organized exhibitions regularly at the Plastic Club and at the Art Club of Philadelphia from 1923 to 1927.
In 1905, She set up a studio and gallery in Wellfleet, MA. Her parlor became her gallery and she welcomed many visitors interested in her work. She was a frequent exhibitor at the Provincetown Art Association. She is well known for her still life and landscape paintings. She was a founder of the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors, a fellow of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and held memberships in the Provincetown Art Association and the American Federation of the Arts.
